Don and Terry Vought, a husband & wife team, are the sole proprietors of Silver Streak Kennels, a long term boarding and retirement country home for dogs. Their years of experience with animals is coupled with an innate love for dogs. Terry says, "This is not a conventional kennel - this is our home and these dogs are treated like our own".
With knowledge and understanding of the needs of each animal, the Voughts insure that the dogs are independent and free while enjoying a secure, enjoyable quality of life.
Terry, a kennel owner for over thirty years, has also been involved with animal rescue, adoption and care for many breeds of dogs. "These are fortunate dogs with caring owners or sponsors," Terry says, "These pet owners feel that their dogs are worth providing for regardless as to their age. Because, in essence, they consider their pets as part of the family."
Prior to starting Silver Streak Kennels, Don created and managed a portable petting zoo of over 350 animals for many years. This experience has made him very knowledge in USDA and New York State Agriculture and Markets Laws and their requirements. "But boarding these dogs has given me a new and different appreciation for the family pet and its owner. People who board their dogs here at Silver Streak Kennels are really a special breed of person. They want for their dogs no less than what they would want for themselves. And that's what we aim to do."
Don and Terry make their home on the Silver Streak Kennel Farm and thus have a hands-on relationship with each and evey one of the dogs that they board. "We feel that this unique and special way of caring for dogs is an idea whose time has come, " says Terry. "We love what we do and get great satisfaction in knowing that the folks who board their dogs with us are grateful for the service we provide."
